Joss Kelvin is a musician, performance artist, and filmmaker.
She is currently composing an interactive transmedia pop concept album as
Her first feature as director and producer, Your Friends Close, premiered at the United Film Festival and is available to stream on Amazon, Vimeo and YouTube.
Currently based in Los Angeles, Joss grew up in New York City and went to Northwestern University to study Theatre and Creative Writing with a focus on Poetry. In Chicago, she collaborated with dance companies Lucky Plush & the Moving Architects to direct site-specific dance films, and performed in theatres such as Victory Gardens, Lookingglass, & Red Orchid. Since moving to Los Angeles she has participated in a number of independent films and web series in a variety of roles including actress, writer, director, producer, and casting director. She co-owns the production company Misfit Toys.
Her background in dance led her to yoga, which she teaches both privately and at Silverlake Yoga in addition to her work at USC as pioneering media scholar Henry Jenkins' assistant. For the past two years, Joss has produced the Transforming Hollywood conference, a partnership between USC and UCLA that brings industry and academia together to explore the future of media.
